A speech screening identifies those children that are more likely to have speech and/or language disorders that may interfere with education, development, or communication. Screening results may generate recommendations for passing with no further testing required. If a comprehensive speech-language evaluation is recommended, generally the score did not meet the cut-off or criterion for a given child's age.

For a free screening, please contact us at the Greenville Bilingual Therapy at (864) 417-8423. Insurance is accepted for most companies.

Comprehensive speech-language evaluations are procedures used to assess the articulation and language systems in childhood, delineating strengths, deficits, and potentially contributing factors for the communication impairment.

After the evaluation is completed, interpretations are discussed with the parent and a written report summarizing the results is completed along with a treatment plan targeting specific areas of deficit as delineated during the evaluation.

We offer individualized articulation therapy in both languages, Spanish and English, to improve a child's speech intelligibility and articulation skills. Articulation therapy can include only a few articulation errors (English: saying 'tat' instead of 'cat' Spanish: 'tasa' for 'casa') or can be more severe in a child who has many errors or substitutions and is very difficult to understand. Our therapists are highly skilled and experienced with articulation delays as well as the more severe disorders of apraxia of speech. Therapy sessions are structured but fun and children look forward to speech time to practice their sounds.

Feeding therapy helps infants and children with a wide array of feeding difficulties which may include one or more of the following:

  1. Reduced or limited intake
  2. Food refusal
  3. Food selectivity by type and/or texture
  4. Dysphagia (swallowing difficulty)
  5. Oral motor deficits
  6. Delayed feeding development
  7. Food or swallowing phobias
  8. Mealtime tantrums
Addressing feeding problems may be important for preventing or eliminating nutritional concerns, growth concerns including failure to thrive, unsafe swallowing which may lead to aspiration pneumonia and future poor eating habits/attitudes.
